Our Team

Dr Abby Dunn

Chief Investigator

I am a mental health researcher at the University of Sussex where my research is focused on parenting in the context of mental health challenges. In my NIHR funded projects I am seeking to understand and improve care for parents being treated in inpatient hospitals and their families.

Chloë Elsby-Pearson

Lived Experience Coordinator

I work as a Lived Experience Coordinator within the Inpatient Families Research Team, supporting the involvement of people with lived experience of parental mental health difficulties in our research. As a parent with my own experience of mental health challenges, I value creating opportunities for people to share their expertise and contribute to research in ways that are both impactful and meaningful.

Ali Bryant

Living Experience Research Advisor

My inpatient experiences and being a parent gives me real insight and knowledge to be able to inform this research with that lens

Prof Sam Cartwright-Hatton

I’m a clinical psychologist with an interest in parental mental health. I’m excited to be involved in this important project and hope that we can make a real difference for parents who use inpatient psychiatric care, and of course their children.

Dr Eleanor Ratcliffe

Environmental Psychologist

Ellie provides expertise on supportive environmental design.

Luise Kalus

Research Assistant

I am excited to work on this project and improve our understanding of experiences surrounding parents that are inpatients.

Naomi Salisbury

Lived Experience Advisor

I have experience of inpatient admission as a parent and in setting up and running lived experience-led mental health services. I draw on these experiences to inform the research and focus on practical outcomes for parents and families.
